Kenafur

Composition

Sterile Powder (ceftiofur sodium) is a multi-species antibiotic that requires reconstitution with sterile water prior to administration.

Indications

Cattle:
KENAFUR® (ceftiofur sodium) Sterile Powder is indicated for treatment of bovine respiratory disease (shipping fever, pneumonia) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica, Pasteurella multocida and Histophilus somni.
KENAFUR ® Sterile Powder is also indicated for treatment of acute bovine interdigital necrobacillosis (foot rot, pododermatitis) associated with Fusobacterium necrophorum and Bacteroides melaninogenicus.

Horses:
KENAFUR® (ceftiofur sodium) Sterile Powder is indicated for treatment of respiratory infections in horses associated with Streptococcus zooepidemicus.
Sheep:
KENAFUR® (ceftiofur sodium) Sterile Powder is indicated for treatment of sheep respiratory disease (sheep pneumonia) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica and Pasteurella multocida.
Goats:
KENAFUR® (ceftiofur sodium) Sterile Powder is indicated for treatment of caprine respiratory disease (goat pneumonia) associated with Mannheimia haemolytica and Pasteurella multocida.
Pigs:
KENAFUR ® (ceftiofur sodium) Sterile Powder is indicated for treatment/control of swine bacterial respiratory disease (swine bacterial pneumonia) associated with Actinobacillus (Haemophilus) pleuropneumoniae, Pasteurella multocida, Salmonella choleraesuis and Streptococcus suis.

Dogs:
KENAFUR ® (ceftiofur sodium) Sterile Powder is indicated for the treatment of canine urinary tract infections associated with Escherichia coli and Proteus mirabilis.

Dosage

(For 1 gm vial reconstituted in 20 ml water for injection and For each 4 gm vial
Reconstituted in 80 ml water for injection).

Cattle :
1 ml of the reconstituted solution per 50 kg body weight
-For respiratory disease the dose should be given once daily at 24 hour
intervals for 5 days in total .
-For interdigital necrobacillosis ( foot rot ) . the dose should be given once daily at 24
hour intervals for 3 days in total.

Horses :
2 ml of the reconstituted solution per 50 kg body weight.
The dose should be given once daily at 24 hours intervals and continued
for 48 hours after clinical signs disappear a 10 days treatment period is usually
adequate a maximum of 10 ml solution should be administered per injection site .

Sheeps & Goats:
2 ml of the reconstituted solution per 50 kg body weight .
Treatment should be repeated at 24 hour intervals for a total of three treatments. Additional treatments may be given on days four and five for animals which do not show a satisfactory response (not recovered) after the initial three treatments.
Dogs:
0.2 ml of the reconstituted solution per 5 kg body weight).
Treatment should be repeated at 24-hour intervals for 5 – 14 days.

Pigs :
10 ml of the reconstituted solution per 16 kg body weight
the does should be given once daily at 24 hours intervals for 3 days in total.
If no response is seen within this period the diagnosis should be redetermined
